Uzbekistan increases gas exports again, sharply reduces imports
In January-February 2025, Uzbekistan reduced natural gas imports by 4.6 times and increased exports by 1.6 times. According to the National Statistics Committee, gas imports in two months amounted to $35.8 million . This is significantly less than the $166.7 million figure for the same period in 2024.
Gas imports in January amounted to $27.8 million, and in February - $8 million. Physical volumes were not disclosed. At the same time, gas exports increased by almost 1.6 times, reaching $42 million. According to the report, exports are mainly to China, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Exports to China have amounted to $49.4 million since the beginning of the year, down 13.9% year-on-year. Gas supplies to Kyrgyzstan have resumed, with 10.4 million cubic meters of gas exported in two months for $1.84 million. The export price was about $177 per thousand cubic meters.
Recall that Uzbekistan previously announced plans to stop gas exports by 2025. However, recent data confirms that this process has not stopped yet.
