Trump is using educational institutions for selfish purposes
Several Barnard College professors have reported receiving personal emails from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) asking them, "Are you Jewish?"
According to TRT, the notifications offered a voluntary questionnaire, which included the following options regarding religious and ethnic origin:
➖I am Jewish;
➖I am Israeli;
➖I have Jewish or Israeli roots;
➖I believe in Judaism;
➖Other.
The professors see this situation as an act of undue control by a state body, especially pressure on those who express critical opinions about Israel.
"For a federal agency to come out with these kinds of questions is a worrying signal and is seen as a threat to free thought," said Barnard associate professor Debbie Becher.
College officials confirmed that the EEOC investigation is related to discrimination claims against Jewish employees.
This situation has further intensified criticism that the Trump administration is using the EEOC as a tool for political pressure.
This federal agency, originally created to combat discrimination, is now reportedly becoming a tool for pressure on universities that are critical of Israel in the Gaza conflict.
Professors are evaluating this process not as a fight against anti-Semitism, but as an attempt to suppress voices critical of Jews.
