30,000 Afghans to perform Hajj this year
The Afghan Ministry of Guidance, Hajj and Endowments presented a report on the spending of Hajj funds at a press conference on March 6. The minister noted that the number of pilgrims from Afghanistan this year is 30,000, and the amount allocated for each pilgrim is 282,090 Afghanis.
This amount is approximately $3,900 in US dollars. It was reported that the total estimated costs for the Hajj are 8 billion 278 million 777 thousand 320 Afghanis. The conference also provided information about the airlines designated for transporting pilgrims, the conditions created in Saudi Arabia, and where the payment will be made.
It should be noted that this year's hajj quota in Uzbekistan is set at 15,000. Although the quota has reportedly been increased threefold in recent years, this amount still does not fully cover the demand for Uzbek citizens. Hajj fees are also more expensive than in other Central Asian republics, amounting to 73 million 970 thousand soums (about $5,500) in 2024 and 68 million 760 thousand soums in 2023.
