Deputies of the Russian State Duma put forward a proposal to extend the term of military service and raise the conscription age for foreigners who have obtained Russian citizenship. Currently, the term of service in the Russian Armed Forces is one year, and the maximum conscription age is 30 years.

A 23-year-old man from Tajikistan was deprived of his Russian citizenship for evading military service. His passport has been confiscated and he will soon be deported.
