The number of marriages in Uzbekistan has decreased and the number of divorces has increased over the first six months of this year. According to the National Statistics Committee, the number of registered marriages in January-June of this year amounted to 95.3 thousand. Compared to the same period last year, their number has decreased by 2.1 thousand.

Divorce fees in Turkmenistan have suddenly increased by five times. Those filing for divorce are now required to pay a state fee of 6,000 manats, or more than $3,500.

In January-March 2024, about 48,600 marriages were registered in Uzbekistan. This is 900 fewer than in the same period last year. The average age of women at marriage was 23.3 years, and the average age of men was 28.2 years. The number of divorces increased by 1.5 times compared to the corresponding period of 2020.
