Uzbekistan plans to join the Eurasian Development Bank in 2025
Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed at the EOII meeting to eliminate tariff and non-tariff restrictions on trade between Uzbekistan and the union states, hold a Business Council meeting in Tashkent, and cooperate in tourism, IT, and AI. The country plans to join the EOIC in 2025, the president said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the next meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St. Petersburg, Russia, as an observer on December 26, the presidential press service reported.
The meeting was chaired by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan (in an online format). In addition to the leader of Uzbekistan, other presidents were also present: from Belarus - Alexander Lukashenko, from Kazakhstan - Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, from Kyrgyzstan - Sadyr Japarov, from Russia - Vladimir Putin, as well as the observer country at the EOID - Iran. Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Said Muhammad Otabak also attended. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel sent a video message to the participants.
The agenda included issues of expanding multilateral trade and economic cooperation, supporting industrial cooperation projects, and implementing joint programs in priority areas of cooperation.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev began his speech by noting that in recent years, the country has established effective cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union in 22 areas as an observer.
In particular, in 2024, Uzbekistan's trade volume with the union countries increased by 11%. In October, a new three-year cooperation plan was adopted with the Eurasian Economic Commission, which includes about 40 measures in trade, industry, finance, agriculture, transport and other areas. .
Uzbekistan is also actively participating in a number of EOII sectoral programs in the areas of digitization of trade and freight transport, introduction of e-commerce, and combating climate change.
The Head of State noted that preparations are underway for the fourth meeting of the joint working group in March 2025. He touched upon the priority areas of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Union.

In particular, the President called for the gradual elimination of trade barriers in mutual trade. In this regard, it was proposed to develop at the expert level the issue of not applying tariff and non-tariff restrictions in trade between Uzbekistan and the CIS countries.

Having adopted the Action Plan, readiness was expressed to hold consultations on the approximation of technical regulatory systems in the near future.
The Uzbek leader emphasized the country's participation in the Agreement on the Unified Customs Transit System, which is being signed at the end of the event, as well as the early introduction of electronic data exchange on goods and vehicles transported across customs borders.
Interest was expressed in joining mechanisms and tools to support industrial cooperation and localization programs.

"In order to form reliable financial resources to promote joint projects, we plan to complete the procedures and become a member of the Eurasian Development Bank early next year," the president said.
In order to actively attract business and create favorable conditions for strengthening business ties, it was proposed to hold a meeting of the EOII Business Council in Tashkent in April 2025.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also noted the importance of systematic cooperation in the field of digital technologies and artificial intelligence. He put forward the initiative to connect Uzbekistan to the EOII integrated information system and the Digital Union project.
In addition, it was proposed to prepare a cooperation program aimed at facilitating the mutual supply of agricultural products, implementing innovative agro-industrial projects, and introducing scientific developments in the agricultural sector.

In order to encourage tourist exchanges, the head of state expressed his readiness to introduce a procedure that would allow citizens of the EAEU countries to enter Uzbekistan with internal documents.
