President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to introduce a 30-day visa-free regime for US citizens to Uzbekistan within 3 months, Gazeta.uz reports. This is stated in a decree signed by the head of state on May 15.

The decree also instructed the ministry to initiate negotiations on easing visa requirements for Uzbek citizens to enter the United States and to submit proposals based on its results.

In addition, it is expected that a regime of entry into Uzbekistan for up to 30 days with an internal document or ID card for citizens of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan, including a "kinder passport" for citizens under the age of 16, will be introduced.

Starting in 2021, Uzbekistan has introduced a visa-free regime for citizens of the United States (and a number of other countries) who are 55 years old and over and who are visiting for tourism purposes for up to 30 days.

Earlier, it was reported that from June 1, a 30-day visa-free regime will apply to citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman in Uzbekistan.
