Uzbekistan concerned about violations of migrants' rights in Russia
Yesterday, at a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Oleg Malginov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov expressed his concern over the increasing cases of ill-treatment and rights violations against Uzbek labor migrants in Russia, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
At the meeting, the Uzbek side emphasized that these circumstances should be considered as an infringement of the rights and freedoms of citizens operating on the territory of Russia, and that these rights should be guaranteed on the basis of the legislation of the host country.
The Deputy Minister also noted that this issue needs to be carefully studied by the relevant Russian agencies.
During the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue cooperation in mutual respect and protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens of the two countries, the message says.
