US, France and Germany warn new Syrian government
The ambassadors of the United States, France, and Germany have urged Syria's transitional government not to appoint jihadists from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and other countries to official positions in the country, saying such decisions could negatively affect the new government's relations with the international community.
For your information, Sayfiddin Tojibaev, a Tajik national who was previously wanted in his homeland for his involvement in armed conflicts, was appointed commander of the operational headquarters of the Syrian Ministry of Defense. Tajik security agencies confirmed that they were aware of this appointment.
Syria's transitional government, which was formed after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime, indirectly confirmed to Reuters that foreigners have been appointed to some positions in the country's armed forces. Six of the 50 positions in the Defense Ministry are held by foreigners.
Representatives of the United States, France, and Germany are trying to influence the new government, saying that the rise of foreign jihadists to high positions could destabilize the region.
