The historic Orifjonboy Mosque, located in the ancient Oqchi neighborhood of Tashkent, now known as Tashkent City, which had been closed for several years and turned into a gallery, has reopened for prayers, social media users reported.
However, the mosque does not currently have an ablution facility. It is noted that it is possible to perform ablution in a paid toilet behind the mosque building.
"The reopening of the ancient mosque for worship was a great convenience for worshipers. May Allah be pleased with those responsible for this," wrote Facebook user Musannif Adham.
The “Orifjonboy” mosque was built in the early 20th century by Orifjon Mallaboev in a modern style. This building was renovated in 2019 as part of the Tashkent City project. Information about the “Orifjonboy” mosque can be found in the appendix to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 846 dated October 4, 2019, in the section “Immovable objects of tangible cultural heritage” for the city of Tashkent[2].
