Shavkat Mirziyoyev: Conflicts should be resolved only through negotiations
Speaking at the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Tashkent, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev drew attention to the situations in Ukraine, the Middle East, and Afghanistan.
The Head of State emphasized that a positive outcome is expected from the negotiations surrounding Ukraine, noting that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict should be resolved through a just solution based on the principle of "two peoples, two states."
Turning to the issue of Afghanistan, the President stressed that the country should not be isolated in the international arena, but should be considered an integral part of the region. "We are in favor of continuing constructive dialogue with Afghanistan. The role of parliaments in this process is also important," he said.
During his speech, Mirziyoyev noted that while global GDP has increased 4.5 times over the past three decades, poverty levels have remained virtually unchanged, noting that by 2030, 575 million people are at risk of living in poverty and 84 million children are at risk of being out of school. "Fighting inequality is a common task for all of us," the president emphasized.
