Ministry and state offices in the capital will be moved to New Tashkent
The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced that executive authorities in the capital - ministries and offices - will be moved to New Tashkent. He informed that big cars will not be allowed in New Tashkent, there will be no traffic jams and people will benefit from this.
The executive authorities of Uzbekistan will be transferred to the territory of the city of New Tashkent. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this on November 23 at an event on the creation of a "green belt" around the capital.
"It is not for nothing that we say green space, it is our future. God willing, we are planning to build New Tashkent and move the entire executive body to New Tashkent. "Imagine a [territory] where big cars don't enter, there are no traffic jams, and people will only benefit from it," the president said.
The head of state also mentioned his speech at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) held in Baku, and also said that it was not for nothing that he proposed to declare 2025 as the "Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy" in Uzbekistan.
"If we pay attention to this ecology, green economy with the stability of the economy... We want to enter the world market in all areas, our goal is to find a market. If we do not open the market to entrepreneurs, that entrepreneur will bring so much technology from Europe, Asia, America, China. Where will his product go tomorrow? You know, you need to change your mind. In order to be competitive, free from corruption, it is necessary to update the technologies and release products worthy of the market. The goal is to make a profit, to be useful," said the president.
Shavkat Mirziyoev spoke about plans to increase the gross domestic product to 200 billion dollars.
"When we started, it was 51 billion [dollars], now it is 110 billion. Let's do it!" Therefore, if we act in accordance with this strategy for all the plans we have made for our people, our future, our beloved homeland, then the finish line will be ours," said Shavkat Mirziyoev.
By the decision of the President on April 19, the coordinating council headed by the Prime Minister was instructed to submit a proposal for the relocation of ministries and offices to New Tashkent within three months.
In March 2023, the president laid the foundation stone of the capsule, which marked the beginning of the construction of New Tashkent. The city is expected to accommodate 1 million inhabitants.
He noted that state institutions, universities and other facilities will be located here. It is planned to open hotels, trade and service facilities in place of the building where the ministry and offices are now located. "Tashkent will become a modern tourism and business center," the head of state said then.
