The mufti of Kyrgyzstan has issued a fatwa regarding funerals. According to it, it is forbidden to slaughter cattle and serve food to guests in the house of the deceased for the first three days. It is also not permissible to hold "three, four, seven, twenty, forty" and other ceremonies.

In addition, the mufti's office announced that it is not allowed to erect tombstones, statues or monuments made of marble, iron and granite on the grave. Spreading rags, wearing belts, wearing "white and blue" and other customs are considered wasteful and are strictly prohibited. In addition, the fatwa emphasized that the fastest burial of the deceased is a requirement of Sharia, and keeping the body for 2-3 days without any reason is not in accordance with Sharia.

This decision caused heated discussions among the public, writes the Azattik publication.

"If you have a lot of money, give it to orphans or widows. The sooner we get rid of un-Islamic customs, the more positive it will be for our lives," said Deputy Mufti Akimjon Ergeshov, expressing his reaction to various objections.
