Kyrgyz President Sadir Japarov called on European countries and the United States to recognize the current government of Afghanistan, which represents the Taliban, and to return "frozen" assets.

This was announced by the head of Kyrgyzstan in an interview with Turkish TV channel TRT.

"As you know, in 2021, the leaders of the Taliban movement came to power in Afghanistan. They continue to rule the country to this day. Whether we like it or not, the fact remains that the country is ruled by the Taliban. It cannot be denied. A number of countries, including us, removed the Taliban from the list of banned organizations," said Japarov.

He also noted that the Afghan people have been suffering from the war and its consequences for many years.

"Although we do not have a direct border with Afghanistan, it touches our neighboring country. Therefore, the deterioration of the situation there worries us to some extent," the president said.
