A woman and her 12-year-old daughter were injured in an explosion of an unknown household appliance in the village of Arka-2, Kyrgyzstan, on the border with Tajikistan, on January 5, 2020, 24.kg reported, citing the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security.

According to reports, the woman was cleaning out a storage area for old construction materials and scrap metal at her home when an explosive device resembling a shell exploded.

"The scene was immediately surrounded by law enforcement agencies. An investigation is currently underway to determine all the details of the incident," the report said.

A woman and her daughter were injured in the explosion and were taken to hospital. Both victims are in stable condition.

On the same day, representatives of law enforcement agencies from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan met and exchanged official information about the incident.

It should be noted that although border problems between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have been ongoing for many years, it was recently reported that the two countries have managed to resolve the border issues taking into account mutual interests.
