Construction of a new China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan main railway has begun
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the participants at the ceremony of launching the construction of the new China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan trunk railway. In his address, the President noted that this project is of great importance in further strengthening cooperation between our countries and making a significant contribution to the transport infrastructure of Central Asia.
The project will build a new railway infrastructure between China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan based on advanced engineering and innovative solutions.
Also, 20 stations, 42 bridges, 25 tunnels, modern transit and logistics infrastructure and warehouses will be built. This railway will serve to increase the volume of regional trade and investment, reduce transport costs, and increase the transit potential of Central Asia.
Mirziyoyev noted that this project fully complies with the noble goals of sustainable development and prosperity within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative. At the same time, he expressed gratitude to the leaders of China and Kyrgyzstan for their personal contributions to the implementation of the project.
According to estimates, the new railway will transport 15 million tons of cargo per year. This will significantly reduce the time and distance for delivering goods to European countries. It will also create the possibility of transporting passengers.
The President expressed firm confidence in Uzbekistan's active participation in the project and its sustainable and effective implementation.
All engineers, builders, and specialists who participated in the ceremony were given due recognition for their work and wished them success in their future endeavors.
Israel attacks WHO delegation in Yemen
Yesterday's Israeli airstrike on Yemen's Sanaa airport posed a serious threat to the World Health Organization (WHO) delegation. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was at the airport at the time of the attack.
Gebreesus said that the attack resulted in damage to his team, one crew member was injured, and at least two people were killed in the airport area.
"The air traffic control tower, flight deck, and runway sustained significant damage," he said in a statement.
A WHO delegation was visiting Yemen to assess the medical and humanitarian situation. Ghebreyesus expressed condolences to the families of the victims but did not provide specific information on which forces were responsible for the attacks.
Casualties among civilians
Israeli aircraft carried out attacks on the Sanaa airport area yesterday afternoon, resulting in civilian casualties.
The head of the WHO called on the international community to pay attention to the humanitarian situation in Yemen and reminded that any attacks violate international law.
