56 percent of Uzbekistan's population is able-bodied
As of April 1, 2025, the permanent population of Uzbekistan was 37.7 million people. This is 2% more than last year.
According to the National Statistics Committee, 56 percent of the population — 21.1 million people — are of working age.
At the same time, 12.1 million people (32.1 percent) are under working age, and 4.5 million people (11.9 percent) are citizens of retirement age.
It is noted that these indicators indicate a large share of the working-age population in the country's demographic structure.
This is important for the labor market and economic activity.
