Two Uzbeks who were victims of human trafficking in Myanmar have been repatriated.

It is understood they travelled to Thailand after being offered high-paying jobs online. They were then illegally taken to Myanmar and handed over to a human trafficking gang.

The compatriots were forced to work in illegal centers in Myanmar. Migrants who refused to carry out illegal activities were subjected to physical violence and threats. The criminal gang demanded large sums of money for their release and return to their homeland.

In addition to the Uzbeks, 8 Kyrgyz and 4 Kazakh citizens are said to be in a similar situation in Myanmar.

Since Kyrgyzstan does not have a diplomatic mission in Thailand, diplomats from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan also helped them return to their homeland, the report said.
