US reveals details of talks with Russia in Istanbul
Russia and America held 6.5 hours of talks in Istanbul. According to the US side, the main focus was on the normalization of the activities of diplomatic missions on both sides.
The US State Department confirmed in a statement that during talks in Istanbul, Russian and US representatives developed detailed steps for the bilateral normalization of diplomatic missions, which have been paralyzed for the past three years.
Washington called the meeting constructive and announced that it had reached an agreement to immediately resume contacts. The date and location of the agreement will be discussed later.
The agency clarified that the American side expressed concerns about the use of banking services, recruitment, and the number of contract employees at the embassy in Moscow.
According to media reports, the new round of Russian-American talks in Istanbul lasted about 6.5 hours. The parties last met in Riyadh. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that this meeting in Turkey is a demonstration of the readiness of the two countries to quickly and effectively resolve pressing issues.
