Trump imposes 25% tariff on cars imported into the US
US President Donald Trump has announced a 25% tariff on imported cars and trucks, Reuters reports.
According to the source, this decision could further escalate the global trade war. According to automotive industry experts, customs tariffs will lead to higher prices and a slowdown in production.
"We will impose a 25% tariff on all cars that are not made in our country," Trump said at an event at the White House.
He said that these tariffs will be implemented starting April 3. On the same day, Trump will also announce reciprocal tariff measures against countries that cause the largest deficit in the US trade balance, Reuters reported.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called the decision "bad for business and even worse for consumers." Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney called it a "direct attack" on Canadian workers.
