Trump said in an interview with Fox Business Network that he had sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei offering to hold talks. Iran, in turn, said that the letter had not arrived.

Iran has denied claims that it has received a letter from US President Donald Trump offering talks on its nuclear program. Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations said Tehran had not received any letter from Washington.

Trump earlier said in an interview with Fox Business Network that he had sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei offering talks. He said Iran was offered either to engage in dialogue or face US military pressure.

However, Tehran reacted with disbelief to these words. Iran's supreme leader has previously strongly rejected any negotiations with the Trump administration, calling them "untrustworthy." Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi have repeatedly stressed that Tehran will not negotiate under pressure.

"Direct negotiations are impossible as long as the US continues its policy of maximum pressure and intimidation," Araqchi said in an interview in Saudi Arabia.

Relations between Washington and Tehran remain tense, especially since the US withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018. In light of Trump's new statements, it remains unclear whether the White House is ready for a diplomatic compromise or is considering a scenario of using force.
