Three Uzbeks sentenced to death in UAE for killing Israeli rabbi
Three Uzbek citizens accused of the murder of an Israeli rabbi have been sentenced to death in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), various sources report.
According to reports, a Dubai court sentenced 28-year-old Olimboy Tohirovich, Mahmudjon Abdulrahim, and 33-year-old Azizbek Komilovich to death for the murder of Zvi Kogan, a Moldovan citizen who had been active in the UAE for several years and was a representative of the "Hobod" Jewish religious movement in Abu Dhabi.
According to some reports, the Uzbek government has abandoned the fate and protection of these three citizens. It is also said that measures have been taken to deprive them of citizenship.
Local sources reported that all investigations and legal proceedings in this case have been placed under the full control of Dubai's security services.
Some publications also published a recording of a telephone conversation between one of these individuals and his mother, during which he said his last goodbyes to his family, saying that he had been sentenced to death by the court.
The Uzbek consulate in Dubai and UAE officials have not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
