The bill banning "Taliban" was submitted to the RF parliament
The Russian State Duma has submitted a bill to remove the Taliban from the list of banned organizations. If it is accepted, the ban can be canceled by the court with the application of the Prosecutor General of Russia or his deputy.
After the Taliban is removed from Russia's list of banned organizations, Russians will be able to join the ranks of the movement. Russians will not be punished for this, co-author of the initiative Ernest Valeev told Gazeta.Ru.
"The existing legal system does not encourage participation of citizens in organizations of foreign countries. If the organization is not considered inappropriate on the territory of Russia, joining it will not have any legal consequences," Valeev said.
The State Duma introduced a draft law on the suspension of the activity of an organization banned in the Russian Federation "if it has stopped its activity aimed at promoting, justifying and supporting terrorism or committing a crime." As noted in the project, the ban will be canceled by a court decision based on the application of the Prosecutor General of Russia or his deputy. However, if the organization resumes terrorist activities, the banned status may be reinstated. The adoption of the draft law may allow the removal of the Afghan Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations.
On November 25, the Alemarah portal of Afghanistan reported that the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergey Shoigu, during the talks with the Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan, Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, informed about the plans of the Russian Federation to remove the Taliban from the list of banned organizations.
