Palestinians begin returning to northern Gaza Strip
The return of Palestinians to the northern Gaza Strip began on January 27. This process is taking place within the framework of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Israel allowed Palestinians to return to their homes and opened checkpoints in exchange for the release of hostages. This day brought great joy to the Palestinians who were on their way home.
"Returning home is a wonderful feeling," says Ibrahim Abdu Hassera, who returned to Gaza.
This news was greeted with joy in the refugee camps.
"There's no sleep. I packed my things and set off in the morning," says Gada, a mother of five, expressing her joy.
Hamas declared the return of the Palestinians as its victory, claiming that the plans of the occupiers had been thwarted.
As part of the truce, Hamas agreed to release 33 hostages, while Israel will release about 2,000 Palestinians from its own prisons. The release process is expected to continue in February and March.
During the October 2023 war, a large-scale evacuation was carried out in the northern Gaza Strip. Today, Palestinians have begun to return to their homes, which will serve to restore hope and peace in the region.
