The Israeli army resumed large-scale airstrikes against the Gaza Strip on the night of March 18. According to the IDF and Shin Bet, the attacks are targeting Hamas targets and are being carried out on the basis of a decision by the political leadership. However, the bombings have killed more than 200 people in Gaza, including children, it is said.

The White House administration has expressed support for Israel's actions. According to a statement from the press secretary, the Israeli attacks were coordinated with Washington and the US president stressed that he would not be afraid to defend this ally. There was even a threatening statement that "the gates of hell will open" for Gaza.

Israeli officials, however, accuse Hamas of refusing to agree to a ceasefire agreement, further complicating the already complex situation in the Middle East. The resumption of attacks is being watched with grave concern not only by the region but also by the international community.

It was reported earlier that some Hamas leaders were martyred during the Israeli airstrikes that the occupying forces launched on Gaza overnight. Among them was Abu Ubayda al-Jamasi, the head of the movement's Emergency Committee.

In addition, Major General Bahjat Hassan Abu Sultan, who was responsible for Hamas's internal operations in Gaza, and Political Bureau member Issaam al-Dalis were also killed.
