Media: US plans to ban entry for citizens of several Islamic countries
"The US government is considering banning or severely restricting entry into the country from a number of countries," the New York Times reports, citing sources.
The number of countries that could be blacklisted is 11, seven of which are Islamic countries. These are Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. The list also includes the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Cuba, Venezuela and Bhutan.
In addition, Washington is also considering the possibility of "severely restricting" visas for citizens of certain countries. These countries include Russia, Belarus, Pakistan, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Eritrea, Laos, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Haiti.
Under the ban and restrictions, only wealthy businessmen will be able to visit the United States, and tourism and immigration will be severely restricted.
