Israel* Finance Minister and leader of the far-right Religious Zionism party, Betzalel Smotrich, has publicly stated that the release of Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip is not a priority for the government.

"We have to admit that the return of the prisoners is not our most important task," he said in an interview with Israeli radio. According to him, Israel's main goal is to win the war with Gaza.

According to TRT, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that he will not stop the war, even though Hamas has expressed its readiness to exchange prisoners in exchange for a ceasefire.

Yair Golan, leader of the Israeli* Democrats, strongly condemned Smotrich, calling him "the true face of the Netanyahu government - a regime that has turned the sacrifice of human life and values into a political strategy."

Yoray Lahav Herchanu, a member of parliament from the liberal Esh Atid party, said he did not accept it as part of his nation.
