Reports on social media that hundreds of burned and abandoned Quranic manuscripts have been found on the banks of the Tigris River in Iraq have sparked outrage among Muslims around the world.

Iraqi journalist Usman al-Mukhtar reported that before this incident, Shiite ideology that questions the completeness of the text of the Quran was actively promoted.

"Some propagandists claim that the true text of the Quran is hidden in the hands of the 'Mahdi' and are distorting and interpreting the verses to suit their own interests," the journalist says.

In his opinion, the reality that unfolded on the banks of the Tigris River may be the result of this propaganda, or more precisely, the work of the initiators of the ideology.

Local residents are demanding that the government find and punish the perpetrators. The local government has not responded to the incident.
