Houthis release captured ship crew
Yemen's Ansarullah movement (Houthi rebels) has released the crew of the cargo ship Galaxy Leader, which it captured on November 19, 2023. The release of the crew members was facilitated by Oman's mediation, TASS news agency reported.
The Houthi Supreme Political Council issued a statement confirming the release of the crew. According to reports, 25 sailors were taken to Oman. They were citizens of Bulgaria, Mexico, Romania, Ukraine and the Philippines. It was noted that there were no Israeli or Japanese citizens among the sailors.
The ship, which was sailing under the flag of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and owned by the Japanese company Nippon Yusen, was captured by the Houthis in the Gulf of Aden and towed to the coast of Yemen.

Recall that earlier, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order designating the Houthi group as a terrorist organization. In 2021, the Biden administration removed the Houthis from the list of terrorist organizations. However, due to their actions against Israel, the group was again included in the list of "global terrorist organizations."
