France's push to recognize Palestine angers Israel
France's statement that it may recognize a Palestinian state in the coming months has sparked sharp protests from Israel.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar contradicted French President Emmanuel Macron's views on this.
"Such actions will not bring peace, security, and stability to our region. Unilateral recognition of the fictitious Palestinian state is nothing more than supporting terrorism and rewarding Hamas," the occupying Israeli Foreign Minister stressed.
Macron, in an interview with France 5 at the end of his trip to Egypt, stated that "France may soon recognize Palestine."
It should be noted that following Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, countries such as Spain, Norway, Ireland, Slovenia, Armenia, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Barbados recognized Palestine. As a result, the number of countries in the world that have recognized the state of Palestine has reached 146.
