Chinese company to build longest road bridge in Tajikistan
China's Zhejiang Communications Construction Group Co. will build the longest road bridge in Central Asia in Tajikistan, Asia-Plus reported.
The total cost of the project is 427.5 million yuan (about $59.8 million).
According to the agreement, the bridge will be built as part of the third phase of the Obigarm-Nurobad highway project. The bridge itself will be 920 meters long, and with access roads, it will be 1.5 kilometers long.
Construction is scheduled to be completed within 4 years with the participation of experienced local and foreign specialists, however, according to Tajik Transport Minister Azim Ibrahim, there is a possibility of completing the work ahead of schedule.
The new Obigarm-Nurabad road will be an alternative to the existing road, which will be flooded as part of the construction of the Rogun HPP.
It was noted that Zhejiang Communications Construction has been operating in Tajikistan for several years and has extensive experience in implementing road and bridge construction projects.
