Assad regime general captured in Syria
Syrian security forces have captured Brigadier General Abdulkarim Ahmad al-Hamad, who previously acted as a mediator between Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Syrian military.
According to the SANA news agency, Hamad was arrested by the Deir ez-Zor provincial security department. He is known to be close to Maher al-Assad, the brother of President Bashar Assad and commander of the 4th Division.
According to reports, Hamad served as head of the reconciliation department during the Assad regime and played an important role in strengthening Iranian-Syrian military ties.
