Ukraine's full membership in the European Union could cost its member states 2.5 trillion euros, according to a statement by an adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Balaj Orban.

"The full integration of Ukraine may take several years, but the total cost of this process is about 2.5 trillion euros. This figure is 12 times larger than the total budget of the European Union for this year," he said.

Orban also noted that Ukraine's post-war reconstruction will require approximately 500 billion euros, and another 100 billion euros should be allocated annually to keep the state apparatus functioning.

These calculations once again show how complex and economically burdensome the issue of Ukraine's accession to the European Union is.
