77 Palestinians killed in Gaza since ceasefire declared
Despite the declaration of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the death toll in the Gaza Strip continues to rise. According to official figures, 77 Palestinians have died, including 21 children and 25 women.
According to a statement from the Gaza Civil Defense, more than 250 people were injured in the attacks. Of the victims, 66 were killed in Gaza City, 7 in Khan Younis, and the remaining 4 in central parts of the strip.
A ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas on January 15, mediated by Qatar.
According to the agreement, a ceasefire will be implemented on January 19. In the first phase, 33 Israeli prisoners will be released over a period of 42 days.
The agreement also includes the full delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes.
Details on the second and third phases of the agreement are expected to be announced at a later date.
